“Defenitly show up at the time the tour suggests, maybe even earlier because a line will form. We were lucky we were there before the suggested time so we were the first people to get on the boat and get to the island. Food was delicious, the drinks were great, and customer service was spot on. The only thing is that this island is pricey (which makes sense). I wish it had been a little longer but also enough time to relax and chill.”

“The beach is beautiful; you do need to walk about 5 minutes from bus to the beach. Make sure you bring comfortable sandals or sneakers. Our guide Alex was great !! Also, we were taken to (Mambo) section of beach. Note: must bring mosquito repellent. There were a lot of flies around the tables (very annoying and not good at all) I didn’t like this.”

“My family and I really enjoyed the water, however, please be aware that people selling items on the beach can be very persistent if you entertain them. The food was okay, nothing to really rave about. The walk heading down to the beach can be a bit much for those who have issues going up and down steps and the ride to and from the beach is about 1hr30min more or less depending on traffic. I suggest planning accordingly if you plan on doing something afterwards.”

“The beach was beautiful as the water is clear but lots of rocks and coral make it difficult to enter and there are boats with locals offering rides or other excursions which is nice however they are way too close to persons swimming which can be a little scary but no accidents happen while we were there. The locals asking you to buy items is so annoying. You can barely enjoy the beach because of it. The food options at mambo are decent and there was a Ling wait even though we put in out choices like 2 hrs ahead. It nice that Mambo offers options for loungers included but…”

“The aviary was a really unique experience and the beach was great! A nice day trip from Cartagena, we really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend if you only want a few hours at the beach as opposed to a whole day.”

“The aviary is unmissable for any nature lovers! We visited the aviary as part of a beach trip package. The beach element was very meh and felt a little like a walking atm for hawkers, but the aviary made it feel more worth it. So if you can organise it I'd just do an aviary trip and avoid baru island beach visit. The park was a very unassuming place at first glance but as you progress through it's just incredible and gets better and better. “Overall it was a good experience. Boat left pretty much on time there and back. Took a little over an hour rather than the suggested 45 minute. Food was good. Place is clean and peaceful. Drinks were nice. Negative is that my particular waiter only came by about twice before lunch. After lunch I didn’t see him and after 45 minutes went and found him myself. I think this was likely because I was solo. A little more attention would have given 5 stars.”
